Brain Age DS
« on: July 11, 2006, 02:47:34 AM »
Review By Lord*Yakov

Making your brain work won't be a boring task to do. With the new "Brain Age Train your Brain Mintues a Day"
you are not only spending minutes, but entire hours of fun and challenge, this game, consists of four principal options.
Quick Play, Daily training, Sudoku and Download.

First of all you have to know that the way of grabing the DS will change, you will have to grab it in a vertical way, with the buttons up and down, the way you will grab it also will change depending on your handedness.
then the Neuroscience Doctor Ryuta Kawashima, will be the one who will give you the tutorials, greetings, disaprovals, Tips and some additional features, he will also give you recomendations such as a breackfast good in carbs, or to sleep early if you are playing at high hours, the doctor responds, at the hours and season.

Quick Play, is merely for friends of yours who want to try it, without making a new profile.
Consists of a quick brain age check, wich is a random game and according on your punctuation, the results of your brain age, which can be from 20 to 80, 20 being the best and 80 the worst.
A Quick Training, that are random games, graded according on your speed. grades vary from: walk speed, bicycle speed, car speed, train speed and jet speed.
And finally the famous Quick Sudoku, where you get the puzzle and the basic rules for solving it.

Daily training, this is foy you and your family members or close friends, you can create up to 4 profiles with your own signature, birthdate and brain age, which you are supposed to train. this game bases on the date mared on your DS to make a calendar, and each day you train you get a mark on the day you trained, if you are constant, and practice everyday you will unlock new games each day.
This is the same that Quick play but in a very consentrated mode, the brain age check, which is of 3 random games of 4, or 6 if you are in a quiet place and can speak, the score is the same from 20 to 80, 20 being the best and 80 being the worst.
Then comes Training. the first day you only have three games, CalculationsX20, CalculationsX100 and Reading Aloud, after you practice the next days without missing one you will be gathering more, such as Low to high, Syllable Count, Head Count, and others.
Next you have Graph, where you can se your progress along the weeks, it shows a different graph for each different game.
and the last one are other options such as Settings: where you can change the reading font size from normal to large or vizeversa, change handedness, if you are righ tap right if left tap left, depending on your handedness you will grab the Nintendo DS differently, erease personal data, which ereases your progress leading another empty profile, Change Signature: where you can change your principal signature showed in your profile. Then you got 2 locked options and the credits button, wich is a little person in the right low corner.

Sudoku is next, each Profile have its own section, first you got your "How to play", then you have the basic Sudoku, there you have 4 tutorial and 36 different puzzles, each time you complete one a checkmark will appear on the puzzle. then comes the intermediate which are also 4 tutorial and 36 puzzles, after finishing the first intermediate puzzle, you will unlock the advanced Sudoku which again are 4 tutorial, and 36 puzzles.
Sudoku: sudoku is a traditional Japanese game wich consists of 9 squares with 9 squares, fill in the squares with a number from 1 to 9, you need to follow three rules when wrriting the numbers, first every column must contaun only one of each number from 1 to 9. second every row must contain only one of each number from 1 to 9. third, every 3x3 box must contain only one of each number from 1 to 9. fullfill the three conditiona and fill all the spaces, then you have succeeded.
In the Sudoku game as well as in the training you are being tested with time each time you get one wrong you will get a penalty of seconds, depending on the game, but in Sudoku is different, when you are at starting a Sudoku puzzle you are asked if you want to be noticed when you place a wrong number, if you tap yes you will only have 4 chances to get it erong at the 5th, you loose, if you have one mistake you will have a 30 seconds penalty, and so on. If you tap not notice when wrong, you can make as much mistakes as you want, but then you will have to seek them if not you wont be able to complete the puzzle.

Download is the last option, with one DS card you can battle against up to 15 other people. you are able to send Calculation BattleX30 or send a Demo to share this marvelous game with your friends.

The colors of the game are good, the graphics on the head of Doctor Ryuta KAwashima, are not perfect, but it looks fine (it looks they made it that way on purpouse)

Music, is also good, it has its tic toc sound, that will make you desperate sometimes, it also has celebrating and non celebrating music, that is also good.

In conclution, this is a very entertaining game, which willmake you think faster, because it helps to develop your prefrontal cortex,
is for all the family, and you can play it whenever you want, morning, afternoon, or night.

And that's it Folks, i have enjoyed this game lots.

Well, sounds ok, although I don't believe you wrote all that...

If you want to play Sudoku this beats Brain Age puzzle capacity by much.

Believe it or not, Mephistopheles, this review is indeed written completely by Lord Yakov. I read it carefully, did some google searches copying part of his review, but I didn't find any similar. If you look carefully in some parts, you'll notice that it's exactly the way he would have said it(and find some minor mistakes in spelling).

I think Sudoku Gridmaster is already available. It's also part of Touch Generations.

I already got this game.
It is a great game to be played by everyone including our own family members, it has an incredible and innovative gameplay I have never seen in other past games.

I was checking Sudoku Gridmaster game, but I prefer to get Brain Age because it includes Sudoku  :o

The multiplayer game feature is good, but Big Brain Academy DS one is better because it was designed more based on this feature.

Alright, if you did made it it's ok, but you seriously don't even know what pwn means, because, this is simple misunderstanding, you didn't refute any argument or anything of that sort, better luck next time though.

Er, why would buying sudoku gridmaster would beat websudoku? which is a free sudoku including billions of different puzzles, with the same Easy, normal, hard and evil difficulties, including 4X4, 6X6 and 9X9 JigSawDoku. It also includes a downlad version of Web Sudoku Deluxe, with Sudoku puzzles from 4x4 to 16x16. You'll need a full explanation to demonstrate why yours is better, just starting, it's impresively much more than the one Brain Age includes.

Well... to say 2 facts... hmm... it's better because it's portable. It's between 500MB to 1GB dedicated only to sudoku.

Anyway... this is off-topic, so if anybody else doesn't want to post something about Yakov's review or the game, I'll close this topic soon.

There's nothing I could add to the review, I mean, I don't have the game... someone else might...
