Gamecube / Fav. Megaman character??
« on: May 17, 2006, 12:41:05 AM »
Who are your favorite male and female Megaman characters?

Mine are:

  • X
  • Zero

  • Marino
  • Alia
  • Aile

LOL, yeah, X series is my favorite.

IMO, Link's taunt in SSBM is bad. They should bring back the original taunt of Link, it's faster and makes you feel cooler than others.

Also, what should Snake's taunt be? and Zero Suit Samus?

Super Smash Brothers / Did you know that.....
« on: May 15, 2006, 01:19:21 PM »
This game will be running on a modified engine of Super Smash Bros. Melee? It's true. To begin working with this game, Nintendo got out all of the original files from SSBM.

Super Smash Brothers / New Items!!
« on: May 15, 2006, 01:16:36 PM »
A new Super Smash requires new items! And where do most of these items come from? The games from the characters in the game, of course! Ok, then, let's give all of the possible items that can make it into this game.

I was thinking as a possibiliy: Feathers from Kid Icarus game, it could give your character various mid-air jumps, like Pit has. For characters that already have multiple mid-air jumps, they could maybe have doubled that amount of mid-air jumps. This item would only last during a certain amount of time.

Wii / Microsoft Recommends getting Wii and 360
« on: May 13, 2006, 11:24:37 PM »
You read it right, here's the article:

E3 2006: Microsoft Recommends Wii
Peter Moore tells people to pick up a Wii and a 360 instead of a PS3.
by JKR

May 11, 2006 - You read it right. Peter Moore, a vice president for Microsoft, asked in a recent interview, "Tell me why you would buy a $600 PS3?" He went on to explain, "People are going to buy two [machines]. They're going to buy an Xbox and they're going to buy a Wii ... for the price of one PS3."

Microsoft seems to have decided to side with Nintendo in order to overthrow Sony's current lead in the videogame market. Whether the strategy will work or not remains to be seen. Though no official announcement has been made regarding the price of Wii at launch, it is expected to release for a significantly cheaper price than either the 360 or Playstation 3 consoles.

Nintendo has stated many times that it does not wish to compete directly with Sony and Microsoft in the next generation war, opting to move into a new direction with Wii that will complement the other systems.

And now there's more!

Peter Moore speaks Wii again

Peter Moore who surprised alot of people at E3 when he spoke about gamers buying a Wii and 360 spoke with Joystiq and talked about Nintendo.

When asked about Nintendo as a competitor he stated the following:

“I talk about Nintendo every day. They are a competitor, but I think they’re in a different space. They have spectacular first-party intellectual property that is timeless, that is built around fun, it’s character-based in many instances, it’s iterations of great franchises that have gone for decades, but it’s primarily youth-based. They’re also doing, with the Wii controller, which eventually I’ll go and get my hands on, things that are innovative that, from the moment I saw them in Tokyo, I was quoted that day as saying that I loved the innovation and that has stayed with me forever, and I don’t back down from that, but I think we’re in different spaces as two different companies that can certainly coexist and complement each other.”

“My point would be that I can see exactly where the value proposition and the positioning of the Nintendo Wii; from who it’s made for, what the price is, what would be attractive, to which demographic, on a global basis. I think we’ve made it clear about we are where we are, what you’re getting for your $299 or $399, what the value proposition is, titles like Gears of War, Xbox Live Marketplace. Growing our reach on a global basis. In the middle, it’s not clear to me, and maybe I need to take a breather and read this weekend what the value proposition is, potentially I read that Blu-ray is worth the $100 to $200 to $300 and I get very confused when Cell technology is a consumer value proposition. And I ask you guys, what does that do for me as a consumer.”

When asked about the Wii name he was quoted:

“Names that seem ridiculous at first, quickly get involved in our culture. “iPod.” It’s not even a pod. The idea of something that is unique and distinctive is what you brand. One of the challenges of global branding nowadays is finding a word you can protect on a global basis. And people said, “why not Revolution?” Well, I can only imagine how difficult it would have been to brand “Revolution.” So now you see — particularly in the world of technology — you see these names that you can protect. And you see made up names. In the dot-com base it was “Avayo” … “Lucent” … there’s a reason there’s “Yahoo” and “Google.” These are somewhat nonsensical names that try and give some can of a descriptor to the experience. And you can protect them on a legal basis. I mean, I’m saying “the Wii.” You know, I’m from England, you know, we go for a wee… In England, it’s more the Brits because Americans are completely petrified by bodily functions, so we can’t even say, “toilet!” (Laughs). If you have to go to, it’s the restroom. (More laughs). So in England, we ask where the toilets are … here, toilet is horrific. So, there’s a bit of toilet humor, bathroom humor …”

Anime & Manga / Original, Subbed, or Dubbed?
« on: May 11, 2006, 09:56:06 PM »
Just wanted to know, how do you guys prefer to see Anime. I like to see subbed version, and if the dubbed version was changed a lot from the original, I definitly don't like to see it.

Original = Pure Japanese, as you would see it in Japan.
Subbed = Subtitles in English or your preferable language, but original audio and video is still in Japanese.
Dubbed = Audio changed to your language of choice, video may also have been changed.

Super Smash Brothers / "Super Smash" Abilities
« on: May 11, 2006, 09:50:35 PM »
From the trailer, we have seen that a new item, Smash Emblems, will give you the ability to make a "Super Smash". We've seen Mario's Super Fireball Attack, Link's Triforce Slash, and Kirby's Cook. But we didn't see the ability from Pikachu, nor any of the new characters presented. What do you think would be their Super Smash. My guess for Pikachu, would be Volt Tackle.

It's hard, I know. It's a little like breaking up with someone you liked (or for most of you, when you abandon an RPG character to start a new one). In the case of Wii, things will be better than they were before Wii. You'll see why at E3 and just have to trust me for now. Rufus has seen Wii in action and literally cannot wait for it to come out.

Some people have complained about the rash of argumentative Wii threads, both mature and immature. They want Rufus to do something about it, like lock them all or shut them down. The fact is, what is occurring here is a very natural reaction to change. In psychology, they have these 5 Stages of Acceptance: Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, Acceptance. Are some gamers going through it right now? Let's see:

Stage 1: Denial

"They called it what? I don't press buttons? I just wave it around? What? That's a remote. How will it know what I want it to do? How will I play FPS? How will I play sports games? What?"

Stage 2: Anger

"I hate that name! I hate it! I don't want to play a freehand controller. How can I mash buttons when there are so few buttons to mash! If I wanted a workout, I'd go to the gym, and it's very evident that I don't!

Stage 3: Bargaining

"If you don't change the name back to Revolution, I might not buy it. Is it OK if I just still call it Revolution? How about the controller fits into a shell so that I could still play games with 80 buttons?"

Stage 4: Depression

"We're doomed! We're all doomed!"

Stage 5: Acceptance

"You know what, this system rocks! This is unbelievable. I can't believe I'm playing like this. Can you believe it took so long for someone to come up with this? It's going to be hard for me to play games any other way. Viva la Wii!"

Stage 5 will come on May 9 and thereafter when you play Wii. Until then, just note that some of the reactions you are reading are quite normal, if not scientifically accepted.

Get Well Soon (like May 9)

A new skin will be available, but which one should return? I'll leave that to your decision.

Port - Exactly the same, even the design as the old one.
Remake - Graphics and colors are back, but with the new style of the forums.

Super Smash Brothers / Guess the full name
« on: April 27, 2006, 11:45:15 PM »
What do you think will be the complete name of Wii's Smash Brothers?

IMO, one possible name may be "Super Smash Brothers Online", but I think it's not very probable. "Super Smash Brothers Chaos", maybe?
