One of the most confusing things in Phantasy Star Online 2 Classic is feeding your MAG. Unfortunately, it’s also very important to get this right. And this is needs even more attention since New Genesis was released and you won’t have all the options available to easily reset it or get a new one if you mess up. So here is a short but straight to the point guide on how to feed it.
You get your MAG around level 10, so pretty much when you are beginning the game. Your main objective will be to focus on only one stat, and this should be your main attack one. For example, if Hunter is your main class, this means going all in on MEL Support. Rangers would focus on RNG Support and Forces on TEC Suport. For other classes, you can check the table below:
Main Class | MAG Stat to increase |
---|---|
Hunter, Fighter, Techter, and Summoner | MEL Support |
Ranger and Gunner | RNG Support |
Force | TEC Support |
Braver and Bouncer | DEX Support |

And these are the following items that you can use to feed your MAG:
Type of MAG | To Increase Stat | To Decrease DEX |
---|---|---|
MEL | Melee weapons 🟥 | 4⭐ Furniture |
RNG | Range weapons 🟦 | 5⭐ Furniture |
TEC | Technique weapons 🟨 | 6⭐ Furniture |
DEX | PA or Tech Discs | Not needed |
Use the furniture items to decrease the DEX stat when it’s getting too close to leveling up.
You can also get Food Devices which only increase a specific stat but do not affect the energy meter. You get a set of them when you reach level 30. After that, you may get them from the Player Market.
Why is it important to feed your MAG correctly?
As you level up in the game, you will notice that the requirements to equip certain gear depend mostly on your stats, specially your attack ones. So by not focusing on the main stat of your class, you are restricting yourself from being able to equip stronger gear that you should be able to at certain levels.
Unfortunately, fixing these mistakes isn’t easy either. Once a stat increases a level, it’s very hard to get it down again and your MAG can only have a maximum of 200 levels when added up. So always make sure to never level up a stat that does not correspond to your main class.
Once your MAG reaches level 200, you are free to feed it any item to recover its energy without any worry of having incorrect stats leveling up.
